What are the side effects of taking fenugreek and blessed thistle supplements?
This is what I’m going to reveal to you in this post, but before I begin, I need to inform you that both of these supplements are extremely nutritious and are extremely beneficial for your health, so don’t read about these side effects and think that you need to stay away from them!
These plants are very nutritious and have amazing benefits for your body, especially if you are breastfeeding.
These are the main side effects of taking blessed thistle and fenugreek supplements:
- The first nasty side effect is the smell
I cannot write about fenugreek without telling my readers that it’s a very smelly plant, it’s so smelly that you are going to hate smelling yourself, and I’m not talking about a little odor that you can hide with a deodorant, I’m talking about very aggressive and very pungent smell that only a great deodorant and taking regular showers can get rid of!
And the problem with fenugreek smell is that it’s not like garlic smell, when it comes to garlic, you can only smell it in your mouth and in your armpits, but when it comes to fenugreek smell, all your body is going to start stinking!
It’s because fenugreek is very rich in aromatic chemical compounds that are going to spread all over your skin and whenever you start sweating, which is always, your body is going to start smelling badly.
You can get rid of this smell, but it’s a bit difficult and if you live in a hot climate, you are going to suffer more!
- The second side effect of taking fenugreek and blessed thistle supplements is increasing your appetite
Both of these herbs have been used throughout history for increasing the appetite of young children and sick people. For example, in India and North Africa, fenugreek is still used as a way for making skinny people eat more and become stronger and healthier.
I know that this is not a very dangerous side effect, but if you are already suffering from high weight, taking fenugreek and blessed thistle supplements may increase your appetite dramatically and if you do not have and use self-control, like myself, you may be increasing your weight very rapidly and dangerously.
However, there is a way out!
It’s to eat low glycemic foods, like oatmeal, vegetables, whole grains and beans which are amazing because they are going to take a very long time in your intestines and in your stomach to get digested and absorbed!
All these foods are going to help you with your satiety and are going to stop you from going crazy on your next meals!
- The next thing I really would like you to think about whenever you are taking fenugreek and blessed thistle supplements is that they may increase your stomach problems
If you are suffering from constant constipation and stomach pain, gas and bloating, you must avoid taking fenugreek and blessed thistle supplements, it’s because they are extremely reactive in your stomach and are going to increase your gas and bloating symptoms.
Trust me, this is no easy side effect, you may be talking to someone and your stomach may suddenly start making strange noises!
In general, when you take the recommended amount of blessed thistle and fenugreek supplements, you are going to limit this side effect dramatically.
- How much blessed thistle and fenugreek supplements you need to consume in order to stay away from these side effects?
I’ve done many experiments with myself and I’ve come to the conclusion that taking six capsules of fenugreek supplements or less is totally fine and safe, on one condition, they must be spread over the day, and they must be accompanied with food.
For example, I would take two capsules in the morning, with my breakfast, two capsules at noon with my lunch, and two with my dinner, and I will make sure that the food I consume during these times is nourishing and extremely slow to digest, for example foods that contain high amounts of fibers and high amounts of proteins, like beans, oatmeal, and vegetable soups.
When it comes to blessed thistle, you have to avoid taking more than three capsules a day.
